Edmonton’s Best Restaurants
Today, dear readers, I open the blog to you. I have a simple question to ask of you: what are Edmonton’s best restaurants? Give me as much information as you like. Ideally, it would be good to at least know the name of the restaurant, and the type of food that they serve. Addresses would be great, as well.
I will compile all of your suggestions into a list, with my own additions, that I will post sometime next week.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a good weekend. I’m busy packing for a weekend away, hence the rather short post today. I’ve got some great restaurants to tell you about, but I’ll only share if you tell me about your favourites. Sound like a deal?
I have a horrible tendency of going to chains, and so my experience with local cuisine is mediocre at best.
That said I love the Wild Earth Bakery, for breakfast especially. Nothing like scones and a London fog on a warm summer morning. Its on 99th just south of saskatchewan drive (in my old neighborhood)
I hear Garden Bakery is really good Chinese food, I’ve been and I like, but I wouldn’t necessarily say its the best.

I like Wild Earth Bakery, too. I’ve only been there once, to see Michelle Boudreau play a gig, but I thought it was a pretty great place.
Garden Bakery is pretty good too, but I prefer the actual bakery and baked goods to the restaurant upstairs. It’s pretty good, though. I still prefer Double Greeting Wonton House, even though I suspect it’s guilty of several health code violations.

If you want Dim Sum, Mirama on Jasper and 94th (I think) is the best I’ve had in the city, and its not expensive either.

I’ve never been to Mirama, but I’m definitely willing to check it out. I usually go to Dynasty in on Gateway Blvd. (beside the Antique Mall). It’s pretty good, but the last few times I’ve been haven’t been as good as in the past, so I’m more than willing to try a new location, especially if it’s closer to home.
Golden Bird is the one with the Viet Sub Sandwiches, right? I’ve never been, but I have heard good things. I’ll have to grab lunch there one of these days.
Hoang Loang is awesome. Inexpensive, large portions, and a nice atmosphere.
The others, I have only heard about. I’ll definitely try them all someday, though.

Culina! 99st and 89th avenue. Delicious food, reasonable price, funky atmosphere. Try the sirloin w/choclate and blue cheese sauce. My favorite neighborhood restaurant for sure!
