The Discovery Flight is a very cool idea. It's a bit pricey, but if you're making it a special event for Valentine's Day, then it's really not bad. And not much more than a fancy dinner. Thanks for sharing.

I am fairly new to Edmonton but I have been thinking really hard about unique valentine’s dates. I have decided to take my boyfriend on a Discovery Flight. It is relatively inexpensive considering. (75.00 per 1/2 he, 160.00 per hr)You can book from various areas eg) City centre, Villeneuve, or Wetaskiwin. Basically you go up in a small plane and sight see over the city while also being given the controls of the plain and learning to fly. It only allows for two people so it’s a perfect experience to share with someone special. Also the brunch at Hotel Mac is amazing and very romantic.

Ok boys, the Dude is right that active dates are better; but only because us girls don't want to sit and talk either. By personal experience A date where I talk the whole time is a dud. It's when you do something that you can see who a person is. My frustration with mini golf will give away my temper. But playing laser tag? my competitive nature reveils my strong stategic skills. BUT the Dude is completely wrong about shutting a girl out; it's not a game. I want to know if my dates right for me just as much as he's wondering if I'm right for him. So yeah don't spill your guts about your family, or tell the person you love them on the first date, or plan to date three times a week every week from ehre on end. But don't avoid honesty and seeing each other to follow dumb rules. Let it happen.

Why would anyone go outside and freeze their ass off for a winter festival? For the same reason that you enjoy freezing your ass off in outdoor skating rinks, I'd imagine.

Done right, I think it could be quite enjoyable. I mean, not if the weather is in the -30 to -40 range like it's been for the past week or so, but during the course of a normal Edmonton winter, I think a festival could work well.

Why would anyone go outside at -20 C to participate in a winter festival and freeze your ass off?
I love the idea of making the N. Saskatchewan River into a skating rink...but probably scientifically impossible.
What I love about Edmt is the many many outdoor rinks which are maintained and well used....unlike warmer Calgary where they have mostly disappeared. Rink culture is truly Canadian and in Edmt the rinks have paid managers not volunteers which means reliable ice. Yay Edmt.

Yours truly,
Calgarian
